One of the greatest conundrums of the times in which we live pretains to the freedom we hold on to, yet slips from our grasp: if you can say everything, why say anything? Unless our words speak in protest to some immediate cause, our words now mean nothing because little in the way of universal condition means anything to everybody any more. Is this a grim sign of the times or a reason to rejoice? Does this freedom have to lead to a fractured culture where everybody believes in their own beliefs or does it allow for enough commonality that we can talk about our beliefs?
