Over the past few years, I have felt increasing disease with many Christmas songs. They began to seep into my consciousness and ferment into a sadness that echoes the sad melody of "Silent Night" or "Little Drummer Boy." I now avoid these when possible. They bring out the Hamlet in me, thinking too much of what's beyond my control of time and space and usually, the past. This is not depression. It is more of a disembodiment of the soul. Next time it tries leaving, I'm going to shut the door for a while and see how it likes it.

Melancholy Christmas Melodies
Over the past few years, I have felt increasing disease with many Christmas songs. They began to seep into my consciousness and ferment into a sadness that echoes the sad melody of "Silent Night" or "Little Drummer Boy." I now avoid these when possible. They bring out the Hamlet in me, thinking too much of what's beyond my control of time and space and usually, the past. This is not depression. It is more of a disembodiment of the soul. Next time it tries leaving, I'm going to shut the door for a while and see how it likes it.
