I like how people say hello and Merry Christmas just because, for no other reason, just because. No God says you have to. It just fucking feels good. Really good.

I'm with you; I like more than the Christmas comfort food or the gifts is the seasonal excuse to just be kind and wish others well. I try to be that way every day. Extending Christmas to be a year round thing... the food and gifts would get old. The good cheer never would.

Thanks for your thoughts, Nic. I like your thoughts. I think the tough for, at least for me, would be to maintain this in a genuine way day in and day out.
I think anyone could. I know some days I just don't have it in me. Those are the days I don't make eye contact and keep my head down. One time I was so uptight I didn't even acknowledge that I recognized an old friend (who, coincidentally, is also named Pete). I wanted to minimalize contact with any and every human being.
But do we notice so much when people are trying to be invisible like that? I think people notice the ones that are either happy or really pissed off.
