This week: two students called in a fake call during which they claimed that a student had a gun in the building. Sitting a room with about 90 students and being the only one there who had this knowledge and having been asked to keep everybody calm while we evacuate was one of the most terrifying 20 minutes of my life. Oddly enough I wasn't that scared. But I felt a great sadness wash over me in addition to some fear which made me feel strong, oddly enough. At times like that I feel 110%, unlike the dull days of drag and boredom. It felt good to know that I could handle these situations when and if I need to.
Today: a car of kids pulled up in our school lot, wearing clown masks, and took out a brick and baseball bats and began to bash one of our students'car like it was a piñata (sp?). This event turned the whole school on an angle and twisted. Jolts of energy surged through the halls during passing periods. A few fights broke out. Even my honors students got mouthy.
Yes, the long weekend awaits.

Yes, but they stole all my ideas... Now all I can do is wave a white flag and hope for the best.
One class of honors students are mouthy, the other isn't. Overall, they are an interesting couple of bunches of students.
