So today I interviewed a second time with Viktor Rydbergs Gymnasiet, but this time at their campus in Djursholm, a rather affluent northern suburb that might be described as semi-bucolic. I had to take a train and a bus to get there, but that takes all of 1/2 hour from T-Centralen, central Stockholm. The principal seemed like a good guy with little pretense or affectation as many principals maintain. The students, none of whom I met, come from the local town but also from the Northern suburbs as well, so they're not all the rich kids but a nice mix of high achieving, hard working students. Their organization's ten-year-anniversary book outlines an impressive group of kids, whom I've been told will require little motivation. They will be providing me with help transitioning into the Swedish system which he said would be easier than had I come from the British system. He's asked me to return when I can (probably Friday) and meet the other English teachers. Yes, it seems I will have an offer!
Tonight I'm meeting up with a guy named Mike Downey, a fellow Chicagoan living here, for the national soccer team's European qualification match against Northern Ireland. Yea-yeah!
